Abstract:With the rapid development of mobile ac-hoc network, higher demands are proposed on the service quality of ad-hoc On-demand Distance Vector routing protocol (AODV). To improve the performance of AODV, multi-metrics routing protocol with novel repairing mechanism (MWR-AODV)was proposed in this paper. MWR-AODV takes a comprehensive consideration on the factors of the least hops, residual energy, energy drain rate and network density which actually play key roles on the performance of routing protocols in route discovery phase, and import an efficient preemptive local repairing mechanism. Then the performance of the MWR-AODV protocol with the standard AODV and DSDV was compared on the simulation platform NS-2. Simulation results imply that the proposed MWR-AODV outperforms the AODV not only on Quality of Service(QoS) but also on balancing traffic load and prolonging the network life, especially in high-mobility or high density environment.
