A method based on white-light interferometer was proposed to detect the optical fiber has breakpoints or not inside the ceramic ferrule of optical cable connector. Using the white-light interferometer, the reflected light of the two surfaces on ceramic ferrule end and breakpoint will respectively interfere with the reflected light of the reflector on the scanning arm. Then, according to the intensity and distance of the two interference fringes, whether there is breakpoint inside in the ceramic ferrule can be detected, and also can the distance from the breakpoint to the end face of optical fiber connector can be located. Experimental results show that the detection sensitivity of this method can reach 0.03mm. This method is very suitable for breakpoint detection and accurate analysis in production and practical use.
